Entry: How Jana Spent Her Weekend Tuesday, October 10, 2006

On Saturday I had volunteered to help my roomate with a kids thing her church was having.  While we were there, she had the kids do this cool little craft! They had these little things, about the size of tater tots and made of a styrofoam-ish stuff, that stuck together when you got them wet! The kids (and I) made all kinds of interesting little creations...

One of the helpers, the son of my roomate's best friend, (known as X on my blog)  wanted to spend the night at our house.  We said yes...

He and I were happily playing a game on the X box (Halo), when we remembered that my roomate had brought all the leftover craft stuff home with her! X grabbed the stuff, I cleaned off the table, and we set to work!!!!

See the little things in the background? That's what they looked like before we got them wet and stuck them together.

I made the little garden in front (corn inside a fence), the church in the back right corner (complete with cemetery behind it, which you can't see very well) and the trees around it (complete with apples).  X made the teepees, which are WAY cool but didn't show up well in the pics.

You can also see our river, (X and I made it together) our fort (X made it), our heros (aka Indians, which X found somewhere in the roomate's house), The torch the hero is holding (fire made by me, turned into a torch by X)  and the deer...

Which you can see roasting over my fire in this one.  I also made the blood coming out of it.  X made the spit to roast it on!

Altogether we just had a ton of fun, and I am DEFINATELY buying some of this craft to use some Thurday night with "my kids"!!!

Next week, you could do a caulking project with the kids. That looked like a lot of fun, too. ;-)

Mmm...tater tots...

Melba, Awww... I can't believe they aren't accepting donations!!!! I wonder if anyplace else is. And your analysis is correct, except you left out the word "hyper". LOL Other than that, you have me down.

Leti, exactly!!!! I think I had more fun with the stuff than the kids did!!!!!

Eliza, yes, very fun. X is not a love interest, he's 13 years old. Hahaha James is my only love interest, and he's forbidden fruit at the moment. Thanks for the compliments on my dishcloth! :)

Jana,
this craft is so cute!

I wanted to let you know I did get your poem. I love it. Unfortunately Artists Helping Children is no longer accepting donations so there will not be a create a connection project. I am going to think up a new way to share. If you do come to just Be... I would love for you to read this poem.or maybe I can have a section in the program and include inspirational stuff like your poem.
What I know about Jana...
You love hats!!!
And you like to knit and collect (and try) new recipes.
You are working on paying off your debt.
You can be shy. You are trying to become more...more of yourself and being comfortable showing your true (and creative) self to the "real" world and your blogging world.

I have a confession..I often click on your blog, but then never get to read your post or comment because it takes quite a while for your site to come up.(for some reason...because this doesn't happen with everyone's site) Many times I get distracted by E and M and then I go back to the computer and forget what I was doing!

I wanted you to know though that I hear you and I am here for you!!!
XOXO,
Melba
