The next time I think a hike will relax me, someone please remind me of this day.
Six of us went... James and Nick, and then our three girls, J, A, and M. (All minors, hence the initials.) The guys abandoned us on the trail not long after we got there, AND took all but one bottle of water with them!!!! *irritated sigh* But God got them back for it... they left us to climb something stupid, and Nick fell about 6 feet from the ground, into a rock... I'm wondering if he broke any ribs but any comments I made would just strengthen his resolve not to see a doctor, so... *shrug* I almost felt bad because I prayed that God would punish them with something small... I think I prayed that the guys would be eaten by mosquitos or something like that. However, I think A and J were praying they would die, or that God would inflict them with an injury of some kind that would make them unable to bear children, so I guess God took the average! Hahahaha
It was hot, humid, and I am now a prime candidate for West Nile. We drank water straight out of the streams, so I'll probably also die of some poluted water disease. It WAS kinda cool though to drink the fresh water from the streams. :o)
We had planned on taking one trail and ended up taking one or two full trails and parts of two others. J was the leader of our group of girls because she knew the trail the best. She set a VERY fast pace. As M and I were trying to keep up with the others, we walked through a muddy patch. There were branches in the mud to step on, so I was hurrying along trying not to be totally left, getting EXTREMELY frustrated, when I stepped on a branch, and the other end of it flew up and another branch on it whacked me full force right in my bad knee. I have a scratch/bruise about 4 inches long and now my leg hurts whenever I bend it... But I didn't cry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL that's all that matters right?
They said they'd go slower after I threatened to turn back (I had the car keys). But, they didn't, and by the end M was crying because she was having major chest pains. (She has them every so often). M NEVER ever cries... so I felt terrible. We got M back to her house late too, so I'm praying she's not in trouble! OH and to top it all off.... there hadn't been enough rain lately for the trail to be fun! The waterfall was COMPLETELY dry, and the waterslide didn't have enough water flowing for an ant to flow down it! LOL
Anyway... we're already planning our next hiking trip! :o) Can anyone say "INSANITY"???????
