I ended up going hiking in Southern Indiana (Oabache Trails State Park in Vincennes, and I also stopped by the George Rogers Clark National History Park... kinda cool. Will go there again sometime when I'm in a history mood.) on Saturday, then stayed the night at my friend Angie's house and watched the first DVD of "North & South". Went to church Sunday AM, then drove to Fox Ridge State Park in Illinois.
I took a TON of pics, but forgot to bring my digital so you'll have to wait til I get them developed (which may be a few weeks) before I can truly tell you all about my travels. But, for the moment...
BOTH trails were completely deserted! Couldn't believe it! At Oabache (pronounced "Wabash") trails, I saw TWO other human beings the entire time I was hiking! I did however see a swarm of bees (picture me running away while crying out the name of Jesus, and then picking one bee off of my shirt when I couldn't hear the other's buzzing anymore! ), a flock of black birds (fun to watch) and some squirrels. At Fox Ridge I saw six other human beings, but not much wildlife... VERY steep trails, with gravel... not a good combo. No injuries though!!!!!
I also stopped by two local parks... Prarie Creek was BEAUTIFUL but I didn't notice any trails there... Fowler didn't have any trails but they have a bunch of authentic log cabins! WAY cool!!!!!
I took 5 rolls of film, got ideas for a book, an article, and poems... brought back some really cool trinkets from the trip (some neat leaves, acorns, & stuff that I'll take pics of with my digital cam and then scan in to tell you all about), and just generally had fun.
Oh, and I have to tell you that when I sat down on the crapper at Fox Ridge, it DID move!!! I was deeply disappoineted to not escape moving crappers! LOL
Came home Sunday night, chatted with the roomate and cleared the air a bit. Woke up Monday (early in the AM unfortunately) to some VERY sore legs LOL Tried to cook two different things and both were disappointing. Tried to make chicken, rice, & beans... but didn't season them enough so they were blah. Used the broth from the chicken to make a zuchinni soup recipe from my Italian cookbook, but it took eggs and guess what we didn't have? So that stunk too. Oh well... ya win some, ya loose some. *shrug*
