Update

The good news:

Well, I have now officially "sucked it up and dealt" as I always say... I'm still angry, I still feel powerless (which is a devistating emotion for me, I think it's a height thing.) and I feel like my life is out of control... BUT I have a plan of action now.  So I feel empowered.  Ish.

The roomate wants us to go and get some more viney plants from the greenhouse, but that would require digging up the other side of the fence, (there isn't enough dirt on the side we'd used before to plant actual plants... I just planted seeds last time.)  putting a little short fence around it so it doesn't get weed-eated... and I'm just not that motivated at the moment.  Maybe later.   The roomate is willing to buy fencing to put over there and she plans to put some signs up telling him not to mow.

So, I plan to keep working on the "wilderness" in the back yard.  One small part of it is weed-free and I'm going to plant some cosmos and hollyhocks.  I also plan to get ALL of that area weed-free and plant my other tall flowers there. I may put a compost pile there too, but not sure.  It'd be a good way to get rid of all the extra weeds and stuff.  (I have no idea how else "city people" dispose of weeds.  I have WAY too many to throw in with the garbage.)

The bad news:

Poison Ivy.  I'm breaking out on both arms, right above my wrists.  (Where the gloves and the long-sleeved shirt met)  So far none on my legs though!

Anyone know of any good ivy medicines?

Yes, calamine lotion stops the itch and dries the area.

I used to wear gloves and long sleeves when attacking the poison ivy, just pulling it out by the roots. (pulling works for everything but the long tap root, which just snaps off) It's a long term project, because any roots left in the ground will just re-sprout. But the good thing is that it has no where to hide. Gotcha! Here comes another sprout.

You said "Ish"
Love that. LOL

RE: Poisin Ivy, you should talk to Emily. I bet she's an expert right now. All I really know to do is calamine lotion...and benedryl.

Poison ivy (the plant) is really hard to get rid of as it is a VERY smart plant. Don't burn it though as it will spread.
